Something of a pioneer, Shelter was the first bar to bring the intimate independent city ‘sky lounge’ concept to a sophisticated destination-drinks crowd, in 2001. Cosy cool sums up the vibe here – cream sofas and white tables and counters allow the animation of the cocktail crowd and the sparkle of the city lights outside shine.

As dusk sets in, chill-out music accompanies a hip, mostly executive, 25 to 35-year-old set. The bar is known for its premium vodka cocktails – especially martinis – and fine wine. Mid-evening the tempo cranks up, with a hip-hop-oriented play-list. Food can be ordered from menus available from Japanese and western outlets within the same building, Sofas can slide away to allow dancing and parties can include karaoke on request.
